The Sussex Business Awards recognised Ryan Jackson of Brighton-based OG Kicks as a hard-working, resilient and forward-thinking young entrepreneur.
The sold-out awards event – celebrating the achievements of businesses around Sussex – was hosted by Natasha Kaplinsky at The Grand Hotel, Brighton last week where Jackson faced stiff competition for Young Achiever of the Year. The 23-year-old was recognised with Highly Commended in a category looking for individuals who have achieved a level of business success that defies their age, and whose story demonstrates tenacity, determination and is one to watch.
After the awards, Jackson said: “It was a real honour to be a finalist in the Young Achiever of the Year category considering how tough the competition was. It’s been a crazy year. We are constantly growing, evolving and learning. I’ve got a great team and the future is exciting for all of us.”
Dan Grover, Head of Sales and Marketing at Nordell Ltd, judged this year’s Young Achiever category had this to say about Jackson’s success: “The quality of this year’s entries were phenomenal, making it very hard to select an overall winner. I was very impressed with Ryan’s entry however, which was highly commended. He showed that age is just a number by running a very successful business in Brighton and is already looking to expand and grow. Having faced the challenges of the retail sector during Covid, Ryan proved his agility to develop his online sales platform. OG Kicks is a fantastic business with great appeal to his market audience. Overall, a huge congratulation to Ryan and his team.”
